Getting our fiscal house in order

America’s growing debt is one of the most pressing issues facing our nation. The Comptroller General of the United States and the head of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), officials Congress relies on to report on the fiscal state of America, have repeatedly warned that America’s current financial path is “unsustainable.”

With America’s national debt fast approaching the $20 trillion mark and estimates that our debt will blow through the $30 trillion debt mark in a decade, Congress must take action immediately to cut spending in a major way. During my tenure in the House, I have repeatedly voted against spending increases and introduced legislation to return America to a sustainable fiscal path.
